Martha Stewart made history as the oldest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover model for Ever Monday.
Stewart, 81-year-old senior author and lifestyle expert media personality, reflected on discrimination.
“When I heard I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I thought, Oh, that’s so good, I’m going to be the biggest person I ever think of on the cover of Sports Illustrated,” Stewart told the magazine. “And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that was kind of historical.”
Filmed in the Dominican Republic by Ruven Afanador and featured in dozens of photos. She said Monday morning.todayTurns out she liked the photo and admitted to being “shaken” before revealing the show.
“It’s kind of weird to go to an island and then change into nine different bathing suits in one day in front of all these people, and it turns out just fine,” she said.
Stewart said it was a “challenge” to do the cover at her age, but she feels she met it and described the shoot as “fun”.
“For me, it’s a testament to living well and I believe we should all think about living well and being successful, not aging,” she said during an interview today.
