A fire broke out at a building of the Russian Ministry of National Defense in the center of Moscow, TASS news agency reported. It is not known why the fire broke out at the ministry’s headquarters, and the townspeople watched from the street.
A fire broke out in a building of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Znamenka Street in the center of Moscow. “You can see an intense fire from the window on the third floor,” the pro-Kremlin official told TASS.

Footage of the alleged scene began to appear online. There are black smoke clouds over them.
The fire was given the second (highest) severity number out of a possible five. According to Russian media, it was quickly extinguished.

“At around 19:30 (16:30 GMT) at one of the Defense Ministry’s administrative buildings in Moscow, duty officers found smoke in the premises. The fire brigade arrived at the scene,” the ministry’s statement said.

The fire is estimated to have covered an area of 60 square meters. The Russian Defense Ministry said it is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
