Who can resist a sandwich—especially if it’s free?
November 3rd marks National Sandwich Day (yes, it’s a thing.) And that means it’s time to highlight the humble meal that’s likely to be most appreciated by kids, parents, and working professionals for being a quick and easy way to fill their tummy.
The origin of the sandwich goes back centuries. It was published in England in the 1700s by John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, who ordered slices of beef between slices of bread so he could eat while still playing cards.
Nearly 260 years later, the hand meal is being eaten around the world and in America it is being honored with its day.
But while National Sandwich Day is still not an actual holiday, plenty of restaurant chains are offering free deals and offers on sandwich orders.
