Beneath a heartbreaking photo of the late rocker, Young wrote the following:
David is gone, but he is live music. The spirit of CSNY and David’s voice and energy were at the heart of our band. His great songs symbolize what we believe in and it was always fun and exciting when we played together. “Almost Cut My Hair”, “Dejavu” and many other great songs he wrote were great for you and Stills and I had so much fun because he kept us going. His singing with Graham was unforgettable, and their duet spot was the highlight of many of our shows.”
“We had so many amazing times, especially in the early years. Crosby was a very supportive friend in my early life, bringing together big parts of our experience. David was a catalyst for so many things.”

Young continued writing his heart out and “Lots of Love” goes out to Crosby’s wife, Jan Dance, and their son, Django.
The tribute concluded with, “Thanks David for your soul and your songs. I love you, man. I remember the best times!”
Young, 77, and Crosby have experienced years of tension after Crosby publicly criticized Young’s now-wife, actress Daryl Hannah, in 2014, calling her a “purely toxic predator.” His comment led to Young declaring that the band would “never tour again”.
Crosby later admitted to Howard Stern that he regretted the comments and said he had unsuccessfully asked the couple for forgiveness.
“Neil has real beef,” Crosby told The Guardian in 2021. “I said something nasty about his girlfriend.”
The duo also had some disagreements over politics.

Crosby co-founded the rock group Crosby, Stills & Nash in the late 1960s with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. The band later added Young and became known as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
He was also a founding member of The Byrds, a band he left in 1967, due to a falling out with other members.

Crosby died Wednesday at the age of 81 with his wife and their son by his side, according to a statement from Dance.
He is survived by five of his children. The son, whom he shared via sperm donation with singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, Beckett Cypher, has died after Opioid addiction in 2020 At the age of 21.
