Nintendo has entered into an agreement to fully acquire visual production company Dynamo Pictures, Inc. , formerly known for her work on Pikmin Short Movies. The acquisition is expected to be completed on October 3, after which Dynamo Pictures will be known as “Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd.”.
In the Official documents Upon acquisition, Nintendo stated:
“Nintendo has decided to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares (excluding treasury shares) of Dynamo Pictures and make it a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the planning and production structure for visual content in the Nintendo Group.”
What does this mean going forward? Well, it’s not clear at this point. Nintendo states that the production company will focus on producing visual content for the Nintendo IP, which is obvious, but what exactly that will entail is anyone’s guess. Could it be more short films? Full-length features? We’ll have to wait and see, but the long-term effects are interesting!
What do you think of this acquisition? Do you think Nintendo will start working at home on full-length movies in the future? Let’s know!
