After months of speculation about who might play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic at Marvel Studios The Fantastic FourMaybe the wait is finally over. While a deal is still a ways off, sources tell Deadline that three-time Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal is in talks to play the leader of the popular superhero team.
Insiders add that scheduling is still being worked out, but multiple sources close to the negotiations say it’s heading in the right direction for Pascal to do this and his other future projects. Pascal has a full dance card included Gladiator 2which is expected to go into production before the end of the year, in addition to its famous HBO series the last of us, Which is expected to be filmed next year.
Marvel had no comment.
As for the other team members, this can now be resolved as it was necessary to know who would play Richards before they could pitch to others. The hope will be filming early next year, so expect the cast to fill out quickly with director Matt Shakman currently in pre-production at Pinewood Studios in England. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, will produce the film.
Pascal has been on quite the break in recent years including his Emmy-nominated role on the hit HBO series The last of us (He was also nominated to host saturday night live, Which was one of the most popular episodes of last season.)
He is represented by the Central Auditing Organization.
