Alarm sirens rang out on Monday in Lisbon, Setúbal and the town of Portimão, located in the Algarve tourist area, where orders were given to locals through megaphones placed on the beach.

According to the organizers of the event, Monday’s initiative not only made the public aware of the possibility of a strong earthquake and tsunami, but also helped to check warning systems.

According to the predictions of Portuguese seismologists, the cities of Portimao and Lagos, located in the Algarve, will be the most affected by a strong earthquake.
