‘Princess Diaries’ Star Heather Matarazzo Ditches Los Angeles for Michigan — and She’s ‘So Grateful’ for the Change

“We looked at each other and said, ‘Do we want to live in L.A. anymore?’ and the answer was a big ‘no,’” she said. “I’ve only lived in New York or L.A., so this was a great experience for me and it still is.”

Matarazzo may have left Los Angeles, but she hasn’t left Hollywood. “I’m happy that we can finally have a park, our animals are very happy, and I love the place very much, I love it very much. There is an abundance of nature and everyone I met was very kind,” Matarazzo continued.

At the same time, the 41-year-old actress is hesitant to call herself a “Michigan native” just yet. “I don’t feel like I deserve to own or be honored by that title yet,” she said, wondering if she might need a few more winters of snow shoveling before she can truly earn it.

Still, she said, “I’m so grateful to be in Michigan. I’m so grateful, really.”
