Wonder Woman 3 may not happen, but it turns out that wasn’t because Warner Bros.
according to detourwriter-director Patty Jenkins “dropped out” of the project after her ideas for the film were met with skepticism.
An insider claimed that Jenkins let Warner Bros. co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdi “know that they were wrong, that they didn’t get it, they didn’t understand the character, they didn’t understand the character arcs and they didn’t understand what Jenkins was trying to do.”
It all seemed to come to a head when Jenkins sent De Luca an email that ended with a link to the Wikipedia definition of “character arc.”
Jenkins directed both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 and was set to return to the franchise alongside her co-star Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman 3. But while she was said to have given her movie treatment a few days earlier, word quickly spread that the upcoming sequel was canned.
Although the decision came under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, it turned out they had nothing to do with the decision to refuse Jenkins treatment – an incident that was at the heart of her life with Warner Bros. Instead, De Luca and Abdy reportedly decided not to move forward with Jenkins’ version of the film.
Warner Bros. executives are believed to be They felt this was the wrong direction for the franchise, and asked Jenkins if she would come up with another idea. Jenkins refused, instead opting out of the project entirely.
