Samsung teases the ‘thinner and lighter’ Galaxy Z Flip 5 and more

On July 26, Samsung will unveil its next batch of devices, which includes foldables, tablets, and smartwatches, and a new teaser from TM Roh confirms it. Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 It will be thinner and lighter than others.

In the blog post Which has become traditional before the Unpacked event, TM Roh is dropping some hints about what’s to come at the big launch next week. This includes confirmation of new foldable devices, tablets and smartwatches, which refers to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic.

Roh explains that the “design identities” of being fundamental, innovative and harmonious play a role in how he creates this latest collection. Then he points to the company’s foldable phones, where Samsung has raised the bar. Roh says that “every gram and millimeter of a foldable device requires an engineering breakthrough,” and that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 will be “slimmer and lighter than our previous generations.”

We’ve raised the bar for ergonomics for foldable smartphones. A millimeter difference in device thickness might not seem like a huge change, but every gram and millimeter in a foldable device requires an engineering breakthrough. It requires ingenuity with passion. When done well, the benefit to the users is enormous. That’s why we set out to make our latest foldable devices slimmer and lighter than our previous generations.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are expected to adopt a new hinge design that allows both devices to eliminate the “hinge gap” that was present in previous iterations and also reduce weight. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be slightly heavier than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
