Rapper and singer Shaggy has revealed the true meaning behind his 2000 hit song It Wasn’t Me.
The star, whose real name is Orville Richard Burrell CD, 54, told CD there was a misunderstanding among his fans about the song’s lyrics.
Many fans of the song thought it had something to do with cheating, but Shaggy — who has been married to wife Rebecca Packer for nearly ten years and shares three daughters with her — has now cleared things up.
asked the rapper the people Whether he finds, as a result of the song, that many people assume he is a “player”.
He told the publication: ‘It was a huge misconception with that song because that song is not a cheating song. It’s an anti cheat song. It’s just that no one listened to the record to the end.
“There’s a part in the record where it’s a conversation between two people and you have one guy, which is me at that point, giving that bad advice, like, ‘Brother, how could you get caught?'” Just tell her, “It wasn’t me,” and then at the end, the guy says, “I’m going to tell her I’m sorry for the pain I caused.
“I’ve been listening to your reasoning, it doesn’t make any sense at all. I’ll tell her I’m sorry for the pain I’ve caused you. You may think you’re a player, but you’re completely lost.”
And Shaji concluded: No one hears this part! That’s what the song says.
It comes after reggae singer Shaggy revealed that Prince Harry is a fan of his music – and sang a hit song that wasn’t mine for him the first time they met.
The Duke of Sussex met the star in his native Jamaica when he visited the island back in 2012 — and wowed the musician with a version of his hit single.

The star, who has two sons from a previous relationship and three daughters with wife Rebecca, is known for his sexually charged songs, with many of his songs illustrating his appreciation for beautiful women.
Shaggy also revealed that while he’s not “a big weed smoker”, he believes the world would be a calmer place if “every world leader” smoked weed.
The music legend previously discussed his three decades in the industry on The Project – before revealing how he got his unusual stage name all those years ago.
“I got the name Shaggy in high school,” he frankly admitted. My hair was everywhere, so they called me Shaggy, like a shaggy dog. I didn’t like it.
He continued: Then I went to England. I was in a cab, and the guy driving the cab said, “Oh my God—I can’t believe they’re playing a song from a guy with the name Shaggy!”
So I said, “What’s wrong with Shaggy?” Then explain what “s**g” means.
In England, the term “s**g” is used colloquially to describe sexual relations. I thought it was the coolest name then! “
