Last month, Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone mentioned how he had finally finished adding “major new content” for the next update.
Now, to celebrate the game's eighth anniversary, it has finally set a release date for version 1.6. It will arrive next month on March 19, 2024but what is important is that this date only applies to the PC version.
Barron's notes how “console and mobile” versions of this update will follow “as soon as possible”:
Stardew Valley's creator previously admitted that version 1.6 ended up being “a little bit larger in scope than originally planned” and that's why it took so long.
At this time, it added a new large festival, two new small festivals, new late-game content, new items, new crafting recipes, winter clothes for villagers, a new farm type, new secrets, and much more.
The same update revealed that Stardew Valley has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, with ConcernedApe also noting that the official cookbook is “coming soon” and that the global party is currently underway.
