It turns out the Christmas chart is a real thing in the UK – not something made out of the classic film.”Love indeed— and a certain beloved band topped it this year with one of their most popular songs.
“Last Christmas” by Wham! – the duet formed by George Michael and Andrew Ridgley – was named the best song in the Official Christmas Charts by BBC Radio 1.
in Social media sharing Shared by Wham! On the official account as well as in the official charts on Friday, Ridgely was seen reacting to the news, saying in a video: “George will be there, after all these years, to finally achieve a Christmas No. 1 (spot).”
Ridgley went on to say that it felt like “mission accomplished,” adding that Michael wrote the song with the goal of reaching that milestone.
Love to hit! “Last Christmas” was evident this year.
Earlier this week, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McIlhenney took part in Welcome to Wrexham. The band cheated Specifically the album art from “Last Christmas” on Instagram.
The photo was black and white and framed similarly to the cover photo for the Holiday single, with Reynolds sporting the floppy blonde hair that Michael became famous for.

“Last Christmas” was originally released by Wham! in December of 1984. At the time, it spent five consecutive weeks at number two on the UK Singles Chart.
The song has since been covered by numerous artists, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jimmy Eat World and the Backstreet Boys.
Ridgley is the surviving member of Wham! Michael died On Christmas Day nearly seven years ago, in 2016.
