As part of the ongoing wave of AI-related news at CES 2024, Altec Lansing has unveiled an AI-powered successor to the GameShark called AI Shark. What's even more interesting is that the press release related to this program claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in September 2024.
“Formerly known as GameShark, Ai Shark “It is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-powered technology,” explains Altec Lansing In a press release. “The innovative gaming software is set to represent a major leap forward in the gaming experience, providing enhanced gameplay for entry-level users. The official launch is set to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 September 2024“.
The Altec Lansing announcement is quite strange, considering Nintendo hasn't confirmed the name of its next console or its release window. This means that Altec Lansing either revealed the release window and name information earlier than it was supposed to, or is just speculating on the name and release window for Nintendo's next console in order to drum up hype for its AI product.
In a follow-up to Digital Trends, Altec Lansing backed down the September release month, but confirmed that the platform's initial launch is “fall 2024.” She adds that Nintendo has not yet officially set a launch date, but it does not deny the existence of the device or the fact that it is scheduled to be released this year.
Digital Trends has also reached out to Nintendo to confirm the accuracy of the press release. We will provide an update when we hear back.
As for what AI Shark is, Altec Lansing says it will “use exclusive XGPT and real-time technology.” [tensor processing units] Acceleration to elevate users' gaming experiences by providing personalized tips and help that keep pace with fast-paced competitive gaming. The press release unveiling the AI Shark doesn't explain what data set it will be pulling from in order to provide this advice to players, so we also asked Altec Lansing for clarification on that.
Regardless, if what Altec Lansing says is true, the Nintendo Switch 2 could hit store shelves as soon as September 2024. Definitely take that with a grain of salt for now.
