Mandisa, Season 5, Top 10 American Idol The competitor who continued her Grammy Award-winning Christian music career died at her home in Nashville yesterday. She was 47 years old.
Her death was announced by the Christian radio network K-Love. The cause of death was not revealed.
“Mandisa loved Jesus, and used her extraordinarily broad platform to talk about Him at every turn,” said David Pearce, chief media officer at K-Love. “Her kindness was legendary, her smile electric, and her voice enormous, but it was no match for the size of her heart.
“Mandisa had struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our struggles,” Pierce continued. “Mandisa’s struggles are over. She is with the God she sang about now. While we grieve, Mandisa is at home. We are praying for Mandisa’s family and friends and ask you to join us.”

Born and raised in California, Mandisa Hundley built national fame with her participation in the 2006 show's fifth season. American Idol. She placed tenth in the season, and the following year she released her first album Real beauty.
Her 2013 album Mostly It would prove to be her signature effort, a popular album with critics and audiences. Mostly He became a staple on Christian radio with singles including “Stronger,” “Good Morning (feat. Tobimac),” and “My Savior.” The album went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
Over the course of her nearly 20-year recording career, she has released five albums and a collection of Christmas songs.
