– Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijardo will travel to Moscow on Thursday, where he will meet with Deputy Prime Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey. Lavrov, Hungarian Foreign Ministry spokesman Máté Paczolay told MTI.
“We came to Moscow. We have two tasks in front of us: to ensure the supply of natural gas to the Hungarian people and to emphasize that we want peace as soon as possible,” the minister said.
A spokesman said the government has decided to purchase another 700 million cubic meters of natural gas. As he added, the implementation of the task was entrusted to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, which is why Szijjártó went to Moscow today. Later in the afternoon, the heads of the foreign ministry will appear at a joint press conference.
Last week, Szijjártó announced that Hungary was not ready to discuss possible EU sanctions against Russian gas supplies and would not support adding Russian Gazprom or Gazprombank to the sanctions list.
