The conference was to be held at Concert Nobel – a 19th-century BIS statesman was scheduled to speak there on Tuesday. However, this will not happen.
Morawiecki was scheduled to be one of the keynote speakers during National Conservatism (NatCon for short), an event that brings together right-wing politicians. The most expensive tickets cost 20,000. Euro, instead, buyers will have access to VIPs speaking at the event. “In addition to Mateusz Morawiecki, the participation of others, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán,” reports the newspaper.
“Rz” writes that the event's cancellation was announced over the weekend by Edificio Event Agency, which manages the facility. He justified this with a desire to demonstrate respect for “core European democratic values”.
“According to Belgian media, the Socialist Mayor of Brussels, Philippe Clos, pushed for the cancellation of the event,” we read.
The cancellation has been widely reported in the media. Belgian portal 7sur7 calls the event a gathering of “right-wing extremists”. In turn, the cancellation of the conference was a “scandal”, according to the Hungary Today website, which supports the Hungarian government. “The demand to close the conference could be a concerted attack by far-left NGOs, progressive media and European left-wing political actors,” he wrote.
