Why is it important?
An Iranian helicopter crashed in East Azerbaijan province on May 19. Eight people including Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyan were killed.
What are the details of the investigation?
Iran’s Fars agency, citing its sources in the intelligence services, said on Wednesday that the cause of the disaster was not the actions of foreign services, but the weather.
During the three-month trial, around 30,000 people were tested. People and human factors were excluded and no traces of chemical substances were found in the machine. The possibility of sabotage was also ruled out.
What are the causes of accidents?
Fars news agency reported that there were two reasons for the accident. The first factor is bad weather, and the second is the load on the engine. The helicopter had two more people than specified in the safety protocol.
Due to this, the pilot could not fly high enough to avoid the fog. “As a result, there was a collision with a mountain in conditions of low visibility due to fog,” the agency said.
This ended the investigation by the Iranian services, which are now certain of the causes of the disaster.
