Footage has emerged on social media showing another transport of Russian tanks heading towards Ukraine. These are undoubtedly old T-62M tanks, whose capabilities and equipment we recall.
T-62M tanks on their way to the front
It can be seen in the record, mostly recorded by Russians living near the railroad used by the military. The tanks were equipped with characteristic canopies.
This type of solution aims to increase the level of protection against FPV (first-person view) drones, which are often used during the war in Ukraine (by both sides of the conflict).
In fact, as many combat records have repeatedly confirmed, the effectiveness of such structures is limited. FPV drones provide the pilot with a real-time live view of the target until the moment they hit it. Most often, they work on the principle of kamikaze devices – the explosive charge explodes on impact.

A tank with low combat value
In terms of offensive capabilities, these units are very outdated. T-62M tanks are used 115 mm guns. However, what is more important, They don’t have thermal imaging or passive night visionThey are unsuitable for night attacks.
Problems of Russians in tanks
Why do the Russians decide to send this type of tanks to the front? As mentioned, among others, Jarosław Wolski, a Polish defense analyst, says that there is a certain rule in bringing Russian tanks to the front. These include very old units (T-62M, T-62 and T-55) or newer tanks of the T-90 family. The Russians do not have spare parts for many “middle age” tanks and cannot replenish their reserves as quickly as they used to.
