5pm: Kyle Anderson's decision will be game time
The Timberwolves and Suns take on Game 2 of their NBA Western Conference semifinal series tonight, with tip-off at (around) 6:30. The game is shown on TNT and Bally Sports North.
Suns coach Frank Vogel said guard Grayson Allen is available to play after Allen sprained his ankle in the third quarter of Game 1. Vogel said Allen's ankle is still sore, but Allen will not miss a playoff game.
Wolves coach Chris Finch said the status of Kyle Anderson, who left the first game with a hip injury, was “yet to be determined.”
Finch was asked how effective Jaden McDaniels is on defense; In Game 1 he helped limit Devin Booker to 5 for 16. Finch talked about McDaniels' competitive streak.
“He's got a really high care factor,” Finch said. “He competes in every game. Sometimes we have to remind him that the game is not 100 possessions. It's not 100 individual battles. But that's the way he approaches it. He just wants to win every game and you can see how annoying that is. When he gets Someone is at their best, of course he learns more and more from these people and their individual tendencies.
“He's got great length, can battle and never gives up a play. Just all the things you want in an offensive defenseman point guard.”
Tonight's officials are Josh Tiffin, Dedric Taylor, and crew chief Zach Zarba.
By the way, I'll be on BSN at 6:10 to discuss my latest feature on Naz Reid…so listen to that if you can.
There are some other pre-game reads on related topics, including a look at how the rebound will impact the series.
3 p.m.: After the shoot ended, Devin Booker became a hot topic
After the Timberwolves won by 25 in Game 1 on Saturday, Phoenix is sure to come up with a different game plan based on how the Wolves played on Saturday. The challenge for the Wolves is to anticipate what those adjustments might be and see if they can cut through some of what Phoenix might try to do differently against them.
“You can try,” point guard Mike Conley said at Tuesday's shooting session. “Part of our preparation is to do our best to anticipate what they might try to do. In the last game, you can sometimes watch film and pick out some property where you see something that might be useful to them and they might be trying to do that more often or you might try to play that This or that pace.”
The Suns will likely try everything they can to get Devin Booker open after Booker went 5-for-16 in Game 1. Meanwhile, Conley is looking to bounce back from a tough first game for himself in which he shot just 2-for-1. -12.
“I didn't think about it at all,” Conley said. “I'm taking these matches match to match for me. I haven't played a lot of matches, but I think I will achieve a lot in the next match. Then the next match, it will be Nikhil's match.” [Alexander-Walker] Or oozing [Reid] Or Kyle [Anderson], whatever. I really don't care about this time of year. It's about getting the W. All of our guys are confident. I'm sure of myself. “I will be ready for the second match.”
The Wolves entered the game with Anderson questionable due to the hip index he suffered in Game 1. The Suns' Grayson Allen (ankle) is also questionable.
