Extension day in Duval County was Thursday.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension with Jacksonville with his wife, Marissa, by his side, as seen in a video the team shared on social media.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the event organizer posted a photo of the couple smiling while at the Jaguars facility.
“Salutations to these years,” Marissa wrote, adding a jaguar emoji.
In another video, the couple was smiling as they entered the facility together.
“I feel good,” Lawrence, 24, said in the clip. “I’m excited to sign this thing, fire up — go to camp the right way.
“We’re thrilled to be here in Jacksonville, man, this is still kind of a surreal fee. Super excited to get this thing signed and done.
The Jaguars shared a photo of the couple at EverBank Stadium in 2021, when they selected Lawrence over Clemson with the first pick in that year’s NFL Draft.
The post also included a shot of the midfielder holding a pen, his wife sitting next to him, and his new contract on the table.
“Then and now,” the Jaguars wrote.
The couple, high school sweethearts, celebrated their third wedding anniversary in April.
They tied the knot in 2021, just days before the NFL draft.
The $275 million extension makes Lawrence, who is set to enter his fourth professional season, one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league — tying him with Joe Burrow for the highest annual average value (AAV) in NFL history at $55. $1 million per season.
His new deal includes $200 million guaranteed with $142 million upon signing. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It is the third-largest amount of fully guaranteed money in NFL history.
Lawrence — who attended the Jaguars OTAs in Jacksonville earlier this month — explained that both sides want to get a deal done before training camp so they can focus on bringing a championship to Jacksonville.
“It feels good to do this.” Lawrence said, per ESPN. “That was the goal [the Jaguars] My team and I wanted to get it done by the time training camp came around so we could put everything in place for this year and be ready to make a championship here.
The Jaguars open the 2024-25 season against the Dolphins in Miami on Sept. 8.
