– That’s my dad! — repeated Gus Walls, clearly moved, pointing to his father, Tim, who spoke during the Democratic convention. The US vice presidential candidate spoke about, among other things, how important reproductive rights are. And he cited his personal experiences.
On the third day of the Democratic convention in Chicago, Tim Walls was officially nominated as the vice presidential candidate of the United States. The politician used the speech delivered during the event to present it to a wide range of voters. He emphasized his small-town origins. He touched on his experiences as a veteran, teacher, football coach and governor of Minnesota. Speaking of his accomplishments in the last of these roles, Walls pointed out, among others: lowering elected taxes, fighting crime, or serving meals in schools. – We also protected reproductive rights – the politician added. To emphasize their importance, he shared his family history with those gathered.

Tim Walls’ personal speech at the Democratic Convention
“If you’ve never been through the hell of infertility…I guarantee you know someone who has,” Walls said. – I remember how every night (my wife and I) prayed for a phone call. The sinking feeling in our stomachs when he finally called and the excruciating pain when we heard the treatment wasn’t working, he said. – (It took Gwen and I years to start a family). However, we had access to infertility treatment. When our daughter was born, we named her Hope, he said.
Ending the streak, the governor assured his loved ones that it “means the whole world”. In response to these words, the politician’s son visibly moved. As 17-year-old Gus praises his father, he points to him and says, “That’s my dad!” Tim Walls’ daughter puts her hands in a heart shape.
Later in the speech, Walls argued that he and Kamala Harris have a better offer for Americans than Donald Trump and JD Vance. Lowering taxes for the middle class, lowering prescription drug prices and making it easier to buy a home.
Finally, the politician was joined on stage by his relatives. Walls hugged his children and wife, then held hands with them as he bowed to the audience.
