Dominican Republic authorities received a complaint in July from a 17-year-old girl who reportedly dated Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Wanderer Franco, a source in the attorney general’s office revealed.
The source told the Dominican newspaper Diario Libre On Monday that the minor submitted the communication on July 17.
The report also added that she is not the same underage girl whose alleged affair with 22-year-old Franco went viral on social media on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office in the town of Panni, Franco state, told DailyMail.com on Tuesday that the girl has not yet filed an incident report.
The investigation is led by Judge Olga Dina, head of the National Directorate for Boys, Girls, Adolescents and the Family, and the investigation takes place in Franco’s hometown of Bani.
The age of consent in the Dominican Republic is 18.

Franco agreed to be placed on baseball’s restricted list on Monday, a day after rumors on social media linked him to a minor in his home country.
“We can confirm that we have opened an investigation,” an MLB official told DailyMail.com on Tuesday. “Other than that and what the Rays said yesterday regarding their agreement with Franco about putting him on the restricted list, we have no further comment at this time.”
Shortstop did not accompany the Rays on their six-game road trip to San Francisco and Anaheim. Tampa Bay defeated the Giants 10-2 in their three-game opener.
Franco’s restricted list placement is limited to a road trip, and although the club is under no obligation to cover his salary, a source told ESPN that Tampa Bay will honor his $2 million salary.
