The Russian military says it has lost about 30,500 troops since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, including about 150 civilians in the last 24 hours.
The other day, Russia lost one plane, nine tanks, 20 armored vehicles, six artillery systems, two multi-rocket launchers and eight drones, according to a news release on Facebook.
According to Ukrainian staff, the total losses of Russian forces from February 24 to May 31 were as follows: 1,358 tanks, 3,302 armored vehicles, 208 aircraft, 174 helicopters, 649 artillery systems, 207 multi-rocket missiles, 2,275 vehicles and tanks, 13 waters. Crafts and 515 drones.
ISW: Increasing losses can lead to further decline in morale
Experts from the American Institute for War Research (ISW) wrote about the Russian losses in their latest report.
“Increasing losses among Russian junior officers will further erode Russia’s capabilities and further undermine morale. The U.S. think tank says the shortage of operations and the continued loss of junior officers complicates command and control systems.
“The HEI has previously estimated that the continued depression of the Russian forces and the weak command and lack of control may create an opportunity for Ukrainian troops to launch a counter-attack with caution, especially as the Russian military continues to deploy troops in the Battle of Severdonetsk. The cost of other operations” – added.
