Detroit Lions radio play-by-play announcer Dan Miller made an epic radio call for Derrick Barnes' game-winning INT against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Detroit Lions are going to the NFC Title game, and they wouldn't have done it without a total team effort. The offense exploded for 21 points in the second half against Tampa Bay Buccaneersand the defense came up with enough plays to close it out.
The play that will forever be remembered is Derrick Barnes' interception of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield in the final two minutes of the game. Barnes deftly dropped into zone coverage, read Mayfield's eyes, and made an athletic break on the ball targeted by tight end Cade Otton.
It's a highlight Lions fans won't soon forget, and this highlight was made even more memorable by a play-by-play call from Lions radio broadcaster Dan MIller and his color commentator Lomas Brown.
The Lions dropped highlights on Sunday night, and yes, it's worth your time:
Miller's cracking voice probably resonated with all of us, as we screamed knowing the Lions had only achieved their second goal. NFC Championship Game in franchise history.
“Derek Barnes! Derek Barnes! Derek Barnes!” cried Miller, his voice cracking at the last cry. “Oh, baby. 1:33 to go. The Lions are going to San Francisco!
Of course, Miller ends the call completely, but perhaps my favorite part of it is Brown, who can't stop saying “yes.” I count seven yeses in a row, while Miller continues to lose his mind.
There's a lot to enjoy in this game, and we're going to make every second of it count, because this year is special. This team is special.
