Destiny 2's Final Shape raid is being touted as one of the biggest moments in the series' history, where we'll finally face The Witness, whether or not that's true remains to be seen. the The character's final stance remains to be seen.
Now, I have Bungie Announce The raid date for Final Form, which is a little too close for comfort for some to the release date of the expansion itself. The expansion will launch on Tuesday, June 4. The raid's release date is Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. PT, just three days away.
It's true that raids reach Contest mode now, so there's no need to go out of your way to max out your power like we saw in the days of Last Wish, where the main problem for all teams was simply being low on level.
However, many players are still not satisfied with this because you Do Need to grind different things. This may be some aspect of the seasonal artifact, although in this case I'm not sure we know for sure if it's still there He is A seasonal artifact, since this is the last season.
But more pressingly, I'm hearing concern about the new Prismatic subclass and its exotic class element that could be gifted with strange random perks, and whether some will get great RNG for rolls from that before the raid. If he got out even before the raid, which we don't know.
Bigger questions loom over Prismatic in general, as it seems to have a lot of strange interactions that could make a raid race a huge mess, but there will no doubt be a list of broken items or even abilities that the raid race can try out. And limit it.
Why is this so close? Why not do it further like other races?
My best guess here is that there is a story element to this, as indications are that there will be a separate event after the raid involving… everyone Community members, not just the 5-10% trying to pull off an obvious raid on day one, are fighting The Witness in one form or another. The Witness must be defeated and the Light and Darkness saga ended so Destiny 2 can quickly move on to Episode One, the Vex-focused Echoes, which is a different format than previous expansions.
Previously, we would typically have a smaller season tied to the expansion release that had content during the season that ran parallel to the campaign story. Here the Light and Darkness saga will end, perhaps with some big events that will change the world, and now the episodes begin, independent stories that will be affected yes by the events of The Final Shape, but they will be different from the way the seasons have worked previously. So I think Bungie wants to start that as soon as possible, which would require finishing the raid and having final form moments happen, whatever those moments might be. There could still be long-term Final Shape content coming down the road, if you say, I just bought this expansion but not the episodes, but it's not going to be like a full season of content unless you have Echoes.
So, that's why the raid was early, I guess. This may be dramatic, but I understand why they did it, at least.
