This year's Met Gala will be a party in the garden.
Vogue announced Thursday that the 2024 gala — which will take place on May 6 — will coincide with the Metropolitan Institute of Art's “Sleeping Beautys: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition. The dress code for the evening is “Garden of Time”.
Anna Wintour's co-chairs for the evening included Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. This year will mark Hemsworth's first time at the ceremony, with the other three co-chairs attending in the past. “The Garden of Time” is based on the 1962 short story by J. J. Ballard of the same title
The announcement was made on Vogue's social channels along with a video of text messages Wintour sent to her co-chairs asking if they were free on May 6.
“Anyone got a Garden of Time set that I can borrow,” Hemsworth wrote in an Instagram post alongside the text thread.

The Met Gala is the biggest night in fashion and Hollywood. It always occurs on the first Monday in May.
Last year's co-chairs included Penelope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Roger Federer and Michaela Coel. The gala celebrated the “Karl Lagerfeld: Beauty Line” exhibition with a dress code “in honor of Karl.” Jared Leto arrived on the carpet dressed as a cat in homage to Lagerfeld's beloved pet, Choupette.
This year's “Sleeping Beauties” exhibition will include approximately 250 objects spanning 400 years from the Costume Institute's permanent collection. The exhibition will be shaped around three main 'zones' – land, sea and sky.
Performances at the concert are usually not announced in advance. Lizzo was the surprise performer last year.
